We’ve got some news to share…
I started Original Gravity% magazine in 2015 with the sole aim to encourage people to drink better beer. It quickly gained a lot of support from breweries, readers, and subscribers who enjoyed the stories written by world-class writers, great photography from the likes of Gareth Dobson and Rob Vanderplank, brilliant design by Adam McNaught-Davis, plus the wide use of amazing covers by very talented illustrators. It is completely free and completely independent – this is a project with no external investment other than the support of our partners and many other very nice people who help us out. It’s a group effort from people who are also passionate in getting more people to drink great beer. And guess what? It’s going to stay that way.
However, we will see some changes at Original Gravity%. I’m delighted to announce that two new positions have been filled. Adrian Tierney-Jones, one of the country’s best writers, will join as Editor. Author Pete Brown, the current Beer Writer of the Year, will join as Editor-at-Large. I’ll remain the publisher and first point on contact at firstname.lastname@example.org. The new team really kicks off with the April 30 issue – and we’ll be having a very big celebration.
What does this mean for Original Gravity% magazine?
Well, it’s going to be even better. Much better in fact. We aim to make this the best magazine about beer and the culture around it anywhere. The core print product will continue to remain completely free, although you’ll start to notice some changes to the structure. There will be five issues of this core product in 2017. We’ve also started work on a sumptuous paid-for magazine that will have the best long-form journalism about beer from writers across the globe. It will be released in time for your summer holiday.
We’ll also be announcing some new contributors and columnists over the next few weeks.
We also kick off our events calendar on March 31-April 1 with the Original Gravity% ‘Beer School’ at the Brighton Tap Takeover. We’re curating eight talks, workshops and panels across the weekend, plus a big old party at the Mash Tun in Brighton on April 1 with our friends at Fourpure. We’d love to see you there.
There are a plenty more events in the pipeline, so we’ll keep you posted.
This is a publication that will continue to promote great beer, to those people who are interested in beer, want to know more about beer, and those who are beginning their journey into beer.
The publication dates for 2017 are as follows:
– Feb 28
– April 30
– June 30
– Aug 30
– Oct 30
We hope you continue to enjoy, read and join us on this remarkable journey during the best time for beer there has ever been.
